Good Morning,
Accounts Payable has mailed Internal Revenue Service 1099-MISC forms for calendar year 2017. These forms are most typically sent to vendors or individuals that have provided services to the institution, or received a payment for a royalty, rent, non- academic prizes and awards, or may have received a non-student participant support stipend payment to attend a workshop or conference.
If you are contacted by a vendor wondering if they should have received a 1099-MISC form, there are additional criteria that if met the UO is not obligated to issue a 1099 MISC form.
* Scholarship or fellowship payments to a recipient that is a US citizen or resident alien
* Payments received did not accumulate to $600 or more during the calendar year, with the exception of royalties which has a reporting threshold of $10
* Purchased standard goods or product from the vendor.
* The vendor is a corporation other than a medical, health care or legal firm
* A non-profit tax exempt organization
* Vendor is a local, state or federal governmental entity
* The vendor's check(s) were not issued between January 1st and December 31, 2017
If the vendor or individual has met all of the criteria above and has not received a 1099-MISC for calendar year 2017, please feel free to refer the vendor with any further 1099 related questions to Dan Patten at dpatten at uoregon.edu<mailto:dpatten at uoregon.edu> or 6-4235.
Note: Internal Revenue Forms 1098T - Tuition Statements are issued by Student Account Receivable, and W-2 - Wage and Tax Statements are issued by Payroll.
Thanks,
Dan Patten
