For units that employee students,
Student employees can be trained and granted query access in Banner FIS and HRIS.
Student employees are generally not permitted to perform the following functions:
1. Invoice entry,
2. Travel reimbursement
3. Time Entry, and
4. Student accounts updates
These functions are best performed by full time employees for the following reasons:
1. These functions commit university funds and have a complex set of rules and best practices, best complied with by experienced, business professionals.
2. These functions are time sensitive and generate many questions, better handled by full time employees.
3. These functions can entail educating other faculty and staff about compliance issues. This education should come from full time business professionals.
Business Affairs will consider exceptions for units where transaction volume is exceptionally high, and full time, trained, professional staff are providing student oversight and supervision.
