Judy Fossum's Last Day

Hello,
Judy Fossum's last day at the university is Thursday December 19th.  Please drop by to say goodbye before she leaves at 2PM.
Judy Fossum started work at the University of Oregon in October 1966 at Emerald Hall, an Adair AFB building moved to where Willamette Hall now sits, from Corvallis.
At the time there was free parking from Oregon Hall to Willamette Hall.  A couple years later the university began charging $9 per year for parking so Judy moved close enough to walk.
Judy was an IBM key punch operator who entered HR time cards, Housing food orders, and Student registration information.  A picture of her desk manual for keying punch cards is attached.
During her time in Emerald Hall two bombs exploded, one on a second floor filing cabinet which triggered the sprinkler system, and another in Registrars on the first floor which left a hole in the floor.
Judy moved to the 3rd floor of Oregon Hall when it was built in 1973.  From her 3rd floor window Judy once saw a man take a rifle out of his parked car and get apprehended.
She also worked on the 4th and then 1st floors of Oregon Hall in the days without computers or office dividers, just a sea of prison built wooden chairs and desks and corded telephones.
Judy retired in 1999 but continued on with Business Affairs in coordinating our training efforts on a  part time basis through this year.
In her 48 years with us she has seen many changes in people, process and technology, and forged many friendships.
As many would attest, it has been a delight working with Judy.  We will miss her dearly, and are grateful for her dedication.
