Surplus Donations Reminderb

Good afternoon,

The Business Affairs Office (BAO) Surplus Department would like to 
remind campus departments of our responsibilities regarding making 
donations.  As a public university our mission includes public service, 
which allows the donation of used property to qualified non-profit 
organizations.

The UO Surplus Property Coordinator is the authorized party to donate UO 
surplus property.

All donations must be coordinated through the UO Surplus Property 
Coordinator who will:

  * Ensure property is eligible for donation.
  * Review and approve the eligibility of each non-profit organization.
  * Maintain a list of qualified organizations and their requests.
  * Identify surplus property that fits the needs of non-profit
    organizations.
  * Coordinates the transfer of ownership and custody of the donated
    property.

When used property is being considered for donation:

  * It must be advertised to campus departments first.
  * Departments may not directly offer such property to outside
    organizations.
  * Departments may suggest or refer non-profit organizations to the UO
    Surplus Department.
