One must admire both an excellent literary style with very good use of the available material evidence, which is mostly a very complex numismatics, in conjunction with the varied written chronicle, whether Arabic or Latin.

Putting Ibn Mardarnísh on the ideological integration of his domain with the prevalent orthodox Sunni idea of elevating the Abbasid caliph as the head of the Islamic community is clearly seen in his coinage. This tallies with his strong resistance to the multiple failed attempts by the heterodox Almohads at conquering his domains.
