 This course, supported by al-Furqan Islamic Heritage Foundation, will 

be held in the framework of the Complutense Summer Courses in San 

Lorenzo de El Escorial (Madrid) from 20th to 24th July.<p class="MsoNormal" style="font-size:12.8px;text-align:justify"><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif"> <p class="MsoNormal" style="font-size:12.8px;text-align:justify"><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif">The course is directed by Dr. Nuria Martínez-de-Castilla-Muñoz,

 lecturer at the Complutense University of Madrid, and taught by leading

 international scholars in the field, among whom we are  pleased to 

introduce Professor <b>François Déroche</b> (Collège de France, Paris, France) and Professor <b>Adam Gacek</b> (McGill, Montréal, Canada), who will join again to cooperate in such a programme.</font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="font-size:12.8px;text-align:justify"><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif"><br></font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="font-size:12.8px;text-align:justify"><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif">The

 course aims to provide the student with the knowledge and academic 

tools required for the study and analysis of manuscripts in Arabic 

script, focusing on a practical approach. We have the privilege of 

attending the step-by-step hands-on sessions in the Monastery of San 

Lorenzo de El Escorial which houses the most important collection of 

manuscripts in Arabic script in Spain and is one of the most relevant in

 Europe.</font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="font-size:12.8px;text-align:justify"><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif"><br></font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="font-size:12.8px;text-align:justify"><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif">The

 course has been designed for scholars and professional working in the 

field of manuscript studies and especially those in Arabic script: 

Arabists, Philologists, Historians, Art Historians, Librarians, 

Archivists, Restorers or Collectors. A detailed programme is attached to
