Dear colleagues,
Next academic year 2021/2022, the new Master's Degree in The Medieval
Iberian World: Hispania, al-Andalus and Sefarad, promoted by the
universities of Malaga and the Autonomous University of Madrid, will
begin its journey. The Master offers an unusual thematic and
interdisciplinary approach, thanks to its multicultural orientation,
which attends to the singularized study and in an integrating
perspective of the Christian, Islamic and Jewish past of the
Peninsula. This approach allows the understanding of the medieval
Iberian environment as a magnificent laboratory for the knowledge of
intercultural relations from a historical perspective, through the
study of their continuities, changes and interactions, within the
framework of a space of encounter and conflict that has given rise to
historiographic images such as the Myth of al-Andalus, the Spain of
the three cultures or the Reconquest. This approach is carried out
from a multidisciplinary perspective, which will offer the student a
broad perspective of the complexity and richness of Iberian societies
between Late Antiquity and the end of the Middle Ages. In this sense,
it will attend to the autonomous analysis of the different political,
social, economic, artistic and cultural realities that took shape in
the Iberian Peninsula, also within an European and Mediterranean
context.
